Free estimate and quotation generator
A quotation, or estimate, tells a customer what the work will cost before they commit. Showing the GST on it, split the way the invoice will split it, means the price they approve is the price they pay.
This generator titles the document 'Estimate / Quotation', prints how long the price holds and what it is for, and works out the tax from your GSTIN and the place of supply.

Your business
Printed at the top of the document, as the supplier.
Your 15-character GST number. Its first two digits are your state.
Bill to
Who the document is addressed to.
Needed for a registered business customer (B2B), so they can claim the input tax credit.
Details
Where the supply is made. The same state as yours means CGST and SGST; another state means IGST.
The recipient pays the GST to the government, so the document charges none and says so.
Items
Price each item before GST. The tax is worked out from the rate and the place of supply.
- Item 1
Amount —
Discount on the whole estimate
Taken off the taxable value before GST, spread across the items.

A worked example
Aravali Interiors, registered in Chandigarh, quotes Sector 17 Cafe in Chandigarh. Both are in the same union territory, so the 18% GST is split into 9% CGST and 9% UTGST.
| Item | Qty × rate | Taxable value | GST |
|---|---|---|---|
| Interior design and drawingsSAC 998391 | 1 × ₹30,000.00 | ₹30,000.00 | ₹5,400.00 |

Estimate or quotation?
In practice the words are used for the same document. Some businesses call it an estimate when the final amount may change with the work, and a quotation when it is a fixed offer. Whichever you call it, say how long the price holds and what it covers.
GST on a quotation
A quotation is not a tax document, and no GST is payable because of it. Showing the tax still matters: it tells your customer the full amount, and a registered customer can see the input tax credit they will have on the invoice.
The generator splits the tax as the invoice would: CGST and SGST (or UTGST in a union territory) within your state, IGST to another state.
What to spell out
Most disputes over a quotation are about what it did not say. Use the subject for what the work is, and the notes for what is excluded, the timeline, how payment is staged (an advance, then the balance on completion, say) and any assumption the price rests on, such as the cost of materials holding until the work starts.
Discounts
Discounts go on before the tax. A discount on an item reduces that item’s taxable value; a discount on the whole estimate is spread across the items in proportion, so every line and the total agree.
From quotation to invoice
Once the customer accepts, you invoice what was quoted. In an InvoizeFlow account an accepted estimate converts into an invoice with the same items, so nothing is typed twice. Keep quotation numbers in their own series, separate from invoice numbers.
This page explains the rules in general terms. It is not tax advice; check anything specific to your business with your accountant.
Questions
It is not required, but it avoids a surprise: the customer approves the amount they will actually pay.
The date until which you will honour the prices. After it you can re-quote, for example if your costs change.
Yes, per item or on the whole estimate, as a percentage or an amount. Both come off before GST is worked out.
No. Nothing is owed on a quotation; it shows how long the price is valid instead.
No. What you enter is sent to InvoizeFlow to total and render the PDF, and is not stored. Your draft stays in your browser until you clear it.
